so my jeep is a big junk rust bucket. it has the 4.2l i6 and the peugeot transmission (junk whoever picked the transmission those years should be fired). the first thing i want to conquer is my transmission and my engine needs a rebuild it wont pass emissions as it is now. my carb is the stock carb and its not doing what it should. i have been looking into engine swaps for jeeps and i have thought about putting a 351 windsor and a t18 trans with my stock transfer case. yes they are a inch and a half longer but they are narrower and lighter plus they have a front distributor instead of a back one like chevys which helps as well. well i am wondering if a 4.2 will be enough power or will i regret having a t18 behind a straight 6. i know a deuce and a half is a straight 6 with 127 to 130 something hp and they can pull down a house. allthough thats a diesel motor with crazy compression and it can burn just about anything. so my question really is should i rebuild my engine and put a new 2bbl carb on it and a t18 trans or go all out and the expensive route of swaping my 258 for a 351 and t18?? i would like to put dana 60s on front and rear eventually when i get more cash
